Who said you can’t get a good workout playing video games? Welcome to the world of the Wii gaming system where getting up and out of your chair is the only way to play. It’s great exercise and lots of fun playing baseball, tennis, bowling, arcade games and much, much more. Join us in the Senior Lounge Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for the fun.

SENIOR PILATES and FITNESS BALL CLASS
Modified Pilate’s exercises with the older adult in mind. Helps strengthen inner core and back muscles. All exercises are performed on mats. Uses stretch bands, hand weights and fitness ball.

ARTHRITIS AQUATIC EXERCISE
Created by the National Arthritis Foundation and taught by their certified instructors, this exercise program targets individuals with arthritis and other joint related diseases. Helps ease joint pain, increase range of motion and improve flexibility. Exercises are gentle and performed in shallow water.

SilverSneakers® Range of Motion and Muscle Strengthening Class
This program is developed by the Humana Health Care Group and provides strengthening exercises for all major muscle groups and helps individuals with improved range of motion exercises. Small hand weights, balls and exercise bands are used to improve performance. Some select Medicare plans participate in SilverSneakers. Call your plan to see if they participate.

AI CHI WATER MEDITATION AND EXERCISE
An aquatic exercise class for relief of stress caused by arthritis and fibromyalgia, Ai Chi helps to relieve muscle and joint pain while relaxing the mind and spirit. Restorative breathing techniques are also incorporated into this program.

SilverSneakers® Yoga Stretch
Yoga Stretch will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion. Restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. Endorsed by Humana Health Care and free to their policy holders.

GUIDELINES

Must be registered in order to participate in walking awards program. Register at Recreation Center control desk on first floor. $10.00 yearly fee.

Post mileage on Walking Club Mileage Chart at second floor control desk. Mileage will be kept on computer. Awards will be issued upon reaching goals.

Award winner’s names and awards to receive will be posted semi-annually at the second floor control desk. Recipients may pick up awards at the Senior Lounge on the third floor.

Sixteen (16) laps on inside lane of walking track = 1 mile; Fifteen (15) laps on middle lane = 1 mile; and Fourteen (14) laps on outside lane = 1 mile. One lap around the outside track equals .5 miles. Walking may be done away from the Recreation Center, but must be measured in order to count.

Walking times for the Recreation Center inside track are Monday through Friday 6:00 am - 9:00 pm; Saturday 10:00 am - 9:00 pm; and Sunday 1:00 – 5:00 pm (all dependent on seasonal times). The outdoor track is open daily until 9:00 pm.

Miles will no longer be kept for those not registered in the awards program or those who have let their dues expire or have not turned in mileage for three (3) consecutive months. If a person wishes to remain on the active list and will not be able to turn in mileage for three (3) consecutive months, they must notify the Recreation Center office at 236-3218.
