Painting with Acrylics/Watercolors
You can do it! Paint a bridge, stream or a colorful landscape. Instruction will be given on proper use of materials, mixing, and background painting up to detail. During the first half of class, students will be instructed in techniques in drawing, shading, perspective and material use. The second half consists of acrylic painting, material use, strokes and color mixing. This camp will definitely bring out the artist in your child and most of all, they will have fun.

Spinning Classes
Are you looking for a new way to stay fit and lose those unwanted pounds?? Well, why not spin your way into shape with a spinning class at the Galax Recreation Center. This instructor-led class is open to all levels from beginners to the advanced rider and will guide you through different workout phases (warm-up, steady, up tempo cadences, sprints, climbs, running, jumping and cool down) all to upbeat music at your own pace.
*Classes are scheduled in six-week sessions. Eight (8) bikes are available for the six-week class session registration. One (1) bike is for class daily call-in reservations.
*Morning class reservations will be taken the day before first come first served on a call in reservation list.
*Evening class reservations will be taken the day of the class first come first served on a call in reservation list.

AARP's Free Income Tax Preparation for All Taxpayers
Every Thursday, beginning February 4, 2010 and running through April 15, 2010 from 8:00 am – 12:00 noon at the Galax Grayson Public Library Annex building. All taxpayers are eligible regardless of age. No appointment necessary. Bring all necessary paperwork and receipts to complete your taxes.

After School Activity Program (ASAP)
This program offers quality, supervised after school programs at the Galax Recreation Center for boys and girls who attend Galax City Schools in grades 1 through 6. This program is held Monday through Friday, except when Galax City Schools are closed for teacher workdays, holidays, inclement weather or other scheduled closings.

SUMMER ACTIVITY PROGRAM (SAP) 2010
The Galax Parks & Recreation Department provides quality supervised programs and fun activities for boys and girls ages 6 – 12 during the summer school break. Come have fun with daily swimming at the outdoor pool, trips, crafts and a great end of the year talent show on the big stage of the Rex Theater.
